There was a discussion in a community site some time back on creativity vs practicality ...or whether they are at all mutually exclusive.most of the people chose to prefer one over the other....that art is far besides being practical to be of any use to mankind....that applied art is too full of compromises and superficiality to be respectable at all. i am not being contradictory nor disinterested ... here is my take on it... .
Well...being an artist i m a no-compromise type n work solely frm my instinct.
But still i dont look dwn 2 d othr works of so calld commercial art as a monument of compromise..
practicality...i dont think of it as a limitation ...bt as a challenge.
its even more noteworthy a work of art if it is made under des challenges. i myself wud luve 2 do such practically creative works of art
if i get d chance.
n yes being a painter doesnt guarantee dat he is sum1 hu works straight frm his or her heart ...der r so many artists in d indian art scenario hu
hv compromised v much with d very essence of art 4 d sake of economic profitablity n publicity propoganda.
n der r many commercial artists hu hv been v honest with der inner calling n hv functioned nt as a slave 2 d system of lesser minded ppl.
so...4 me ....its nt under wat circumstance de work..bt der honesty with demselves n d courage 2 b honest dat differentiates between a tru artist n a lesser 1
creativity vs practicality
